NAME OF COUNTRY: The Vivo Espace Democratic Republic
OFFICIAL SHORT FORM OF NAME: Vespacia
LOCATION: The state has no land and is therefore based where the head of state is.
The head of state currrently lives in Lisbon.
AREA: The area of the state is the area the head of state is physically
occupying at a given time which is not occupied by non-Vespacian citizens. By definition this is variable. It also includes
the area of the head of state's home not occupied by non-Vespacian citizens (if shared) or the entire home (if self-contained).
Other areas occupied by Vespacian citizens may also be designated Vespacian territory on the same basis at the discretion
of the head of state.
FORM OF GOVERNMENT: Sovereignty resides with the Vespacian citizens acting as a body who
select the form of government and the members of the government. At present Vespacia is a qualified absolute monarchy
(i.e. absolute apart from the above restriction) led by HIS SERENE HIGHNESS KING OF THE VESPACIANS RUMWOLD. It has always
adopted this form of government.
POPULATION: As a state without permanent land Vespacia has no population. It does however
have citizens. Citizenship is bestowed by the monarch. Vespacian citizenship does not disbar a citizen from holding other
citizenships if they so desire.
LANGUAGE: The official language is Brummie. English is the recognised Lingua Franca
and is the language of government and correspondence.
RELIGION: There is no state religion in Vespacia. The monarch is an Orthodox Christian
as are many citizens and this is encouraged. There are no ordained priests in the Republic and spiritual direction is a matter
of personal conscience.
CURRENCY: Vespacia does not produce its own currency as it does not wish to control the
economic activity of its citizens. All currencies are theoretically acceptable but all transactions between Vespacian citizens
are conducted in mutually agreed currencies at mutually agreed exchange rates. This is considered preferable to slavery to
international financial speculation.
CONSTITUTION/JUDICIAL SYSTEM: As Vespacia is a qualified absolute monarchy these are whatever
the monarch says they are at any given time.
NATIONAL HOLIDAYS: The national holidays currently decreed by the monarch are:
April 2st - National Day (previously April 1st, date of official foundation, altered in 2022 to avoid a
clash with an event on that date)
July 9th - Monarch's Birthday
Roman Day - moveable feast in honour of the late Grand Duke Roman
All feasts of the Orthodox Church (to be celebrated on the calendar of the individual citizen)
FLAG: The Vespacian flag is divided horizontally. The lower half is sky blue representing
peace, unity, equality and the physical sky. The upper half is imperial purple representing the state and is placed above
the sky to represent its divine right to exist. Through the middle of the upper half at a width of 1/5 or 1/7 of
it depending on the size of the flag is a horizontal gold band representing the pure wisdom and quality of everything in the
state.
COAT OF ARMS: Argent on a cross gules a circle or. There is no motto or
crest or supporters. The coat of arms represents the unchanging standard of the small gold circle of the state
in the midst of a fractious and contradictory world represented by the red cross on white background which has been
adopted.as a symbol by a range of widely conflicting nations and ideological movements. The lack of motto, crest and
supporters indicates that the coat of arms like the state can speak for itself.
